Research Interests

 Modern British and American literature that includes the following domains: 

- Representation of Arab/Muslim women (Saudi women in specific) in modern Anglophone literature.

- Feminism and Arab/Muslim feminism (especially from a postcolonial perspective) 

- Depictions of Saudi and Gulf cultures in modern literature 

- Neo Orientalist discourse: Evaluation of Western cultural illustrations of the Middle East, the Gulf, and

  North Africa 

- Cyber cultures and cyber sphere: their effects on women’s writings and on representations of women in

   the West and in Arab/Muslim cultures 

- Diaspora in the 21st century and its effect on representations of identity in literature of immigration 

- Genre theory (particularly popular fiction) and the effects of genre conventions and tropes on depicting

  social codes and cultural signs (with special attention to gender codes) in different geographical and

  historical contexts
